I haven't read a Rebecca Shea book in a while and I have to wonder why. DARE ME was one of those books that has funny moments, sexy one and the requisite angst that I love in my romance books.

Saige Phillips has returned to Chicago, the city she's been longing for, hoping to put the grief of her past behind her. She's found a great group of co-workers, she's living with her best friend and she has the sexiest boss ever. Things change for Saige on a dare. A dare that leads to incredible chemistry with a man she thought was out of her league, a feeling of home she's longing for and the walls she's used to protect herself to come crumbling down.

Saige and Holt have a connection. It's one that I discovered fairly early in the book, but I had to wonder how the author was going to work that in and how they would work through that issue. Given all that Saige had gone through as a child, discovering the connection to Holt was going to be one that sent her into a tailspin. But I wanted to see if she would truly run away from him or if she would stay and fight. It took a bit, but Saige discovered she couldn't be without Holt, her friends and even her job. She became a new person in her new life and sliding back into that broken thirteen-year-old girl was not who she wanted to be.

Holt Hamilton was the perfect hero in this book. Beautiful and rich, he was ultimate out of reach man. He could have been cocky, but he was determined to not be the man his father is. He was thoughtful, loyal and determined to protect those in his circle, whether employee, friend, family or lover. It was hard not to love him and want him to win over Saige.

I enjoyed DARE ME. It had everything I look for in a book and made it hard for me to put down. The storyline was engaging and carried me through, even when I knew what the connection was between the characters. I enjoyed this so much, I'm going to be back through the author's backlist to see what I left off on her books and read the rest. If you haven't read a Rebecca Shea book before, this is a good one to start off with.
