I really had no idea what to expect from this book but i heard the author talk on a show she was interviewed on and i read the blurb and the whole conecept of the zodiac being broken up into houses that each their own unique way of surviving was a new concept for me. Most of my reading tends to me more on the heavy fantasy side rather then the sci fi as i hate being bogged down with all the science terms. The author did a very nice job of giveing you this information but giving you enough story line that you had to know how this was going to play out. You wanted to smack the characters, you cried when certain ones where killed, you had a vested interest in the main character proving her point and saving her people. I love all the details sprinkled through out the story that you really can see how each of the places are and you feel like your actually their in the moments as they happen. Lots of great action throughout not to heave on the romance and very nice read all the way around and the ending did not leave me screaming as much as i thought it would when i realized it was not a stand alone she gives you a sense of an ending but enough of tease that you want more story. Great job.
