Ryker by Sawyer Bennett

Ryker (Cold Fury Hockey, #4)

by Sawyer Bennett

The stakes have never been higher for Carolina Cold Fury goalie Ryker Evans. With his contract running out, he’s got a year left to prove he’s still at the top of his game. And since his wife left him, Ryker has been balancing life as a pro-hockey star and a single parent to two daughters. Management is waiting for him to screw up. The fans are ready to pounce. Everybody’s taking dirty shots—except for the fiery redhead whose faith in Ryker gives him a fresh start.

As the league’s only female general manager, Gray Brannon has learned not to mix business with pleasure. And yet even this tough, talented career woman can’t help breaking her own rules as she gives Ryker everything she’s got. She hopes their hot streak will last forever, but with Ryker’s conniving ex plotting to reclaim her man, the pressure’s on Gray to step up and save a tender new love before it’s too late.

Sawyer Bennett is one of my favorite authors and I found RYKER, the newest addition to her Cold Fury series, captivating. This story features Ryker and Gray and the world of hockey. Gray’s father is the owner of the Cold Fury hockey team and when he promotes her to General Manager of the team, Gray is ecstatic about the promotion. However, there are many people who do not agree with the decision, especially many of the players on the team. She is the first woman GM in hockey and all eyes are on her, waiting for her fail. Gray knows she can’t show any weakness as she comes up against all the biases people have about women working in hockey. I admire everything about Gray. She is intelligent and able to handle all the pressure of her new job and she never lets other people’s opinions of her get in the way of making the right decision.

Ryker is a single dad going through a divorce. He is charming, sensitive, loyal and protective, and he completely bowls Gray over. I fell in love with Ryker. Even though he is a big, tough, macho guy, he also knows how to be gentle and caring and he is a devoted father to his two daughters. Ryker and Gray click on all levels and even though they know they should not be seeing each other, they find it impossible to keep their distance. They have to keep their relationship a secret, because it wouldn’t look good for anyone to find out the GM is dating one of the players on her team. Ryker and Gray make a great couple, there is a lot of chemistry flowing between them and I wanted them to find a way to be together.

This is the fourth book in the Cold Fury Hockey series and each book is a stand alone. I love this series and it is fun catching up with the characters featured in the other books. Sawyer Bennett knows how to write sizzling hockey romances with unforgettable characters.
