I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Silver Lining by Aleatha Romig is the first book in her new series, Blurred Lines. It’s a spinoff of her Sin series. This installment gives us the story of Lena Montgomery. A woman who fought hard to make her mark in the business world and has become a force to reckon with. In this reverse age gap romance, Romig penned an engaging and suspenseful story. A story which shows that love sees beyond our imperfections and accepts us, flaws and all.

Lena Montgomery has taken the business world by storm. She pulled herself out of a position of weakness into one of power and she makes apologies. A hardworking woman with no intention of slowing down and who had no interest in long-term romantic entanglements. Then came the unexpected entrance of Chandler Thompson, aka CJ, into her life. Soon Lena is breaking her own rules and blurring the lines with the handsome hunk twelve years her junior.

Lena Montgomery first appeared in the Sin series and since then, her character intrigued me. I wanted to know what drove her and the events in her past that helped to shape her. Silver Lining delivered all that and more. Lena is a strong, confident and intelligent woman. On the surface, she appears cold and calculating. However, persons who have the privilege to dig deeper will discover that beneath the cold and calm exterior lay a vulnerable and self-doubting individual. These traits came to light in Silver Lining.

One cannot help but to like Chandler. He knows what he wants and will fight tooth and nail to achieve it. He is highly intelligent, and it is this intelligence which aided him to achieve success. It was this very success that place him in Lena’s path. Chandler maybe 12 years younger, but one could never tell. His level of maturity, coupled with his intelligence, made him the perfect match for a woman like Lena. He helped her to recognise that she was more that her past. He wanted to be with her and he was determined to prove to her she deserved love.

Leana and Chandler shared an undeniable chemistry. They were in tune with each other. Several times she tried pushing him away, but when it mattered most, she trusted him to keep her safe. I love how she ignored the attempts of others to cast doubt in her mind about his character.

In addition to the romance, readers are treated to some suspenseful moments. A situation which leads to rapid page turning and sessions of guessing who is behind the nefarious activities. For a moment, I thought I had my finger on the pulse of the whole situation, but I guessed wrong. I was close to an extent, but I was off in the villain’s identity. I enjoyed this aspect of the story. However, its closure was abrupt and lacked some key elements, which left me pondering a few things.

Silver Lining provided a stunning start to the Blurred Lines series, and I look forward to see what more Romig has in store for her fans. Fans of passionate age gap romance served with suspense will want to pick up this latest offering Romig. Not to be missed.
