Mia Corvere is only ten years old when she is given her first lesson in death.

Destined to destroy empires, the child raised in shadows made a promise on the day she lost everything: to avenge herself on those that shattered her world.

But the chance to strike against such powerful enemies will be fleeting, and Mia must become a weapon without equal. Before she seeks vengeance, she must seek training among the infamous assassins of the Red Church of Itreya.

Inside the Church's halls, Mia must prove herself against the deadliest of opponents and survive the tutelage of murderers, liars and daemons at the heart of a murder cult.

The Church is no ordinary school. But Mia is no ordinary student.

At first I wasn't really sure I would have liked this book... but after a few chapters I was totally hooked! The writing style is not easy to get into, but I promise it gets better!
If you know me a little you know that I'm a huge fantasy reader, but I'm also very particular with the books I like and Nevernight falls in a sub-genre which I personally love and which I called the "assassin/thief-apprentice-in-an-italian-like-setting". One of my very favorite book belongs in this sub-genre (Locke Lamora, I'm looking at you!), and another one is not as great but it's still very enjoyable (somebody said "Six of Crows"?).
I found Nevernight a mix between Locke Lamora, The way of shadows and Blood Song and it was GLORIOUS.
And now we wait of book 2...
