“Whatever it is, I’ll fix it for you, I’ll get it for you, I’ll slay it for you, or buy it for you, or barter for it, or beg, borrow, or steal. Tell me what you need, sweetheart, and it’s yours.”

Wow! I cannot stop thinking about this book. This is my first time reading Katy Regnery’s work and I was impressed. I had heard so much about her work and so I decided to give this one a try. It was just totally awesome.

This is the second book in the Winslow Brothers series and it can be read as a stand-alone. I knew from the start that this book was going to leave me emotionally drained. I was totally invested in the story and the characters. I loved everything about this story. I was hooked from the very first page and I found it rather difficult to put this one down. This is the kind of story that will make you laugh, cry and scream as you follow the characters on their emotional journey. The story flowed beautifully and the writing was engaging and riveting.

The first half of the book was slow but this was not necessarily a bad thing. I believe that this was deliberate as it allowed readers to get a better understanding of the characters as it relates to their fears, pain, doubts and sorrows. In the second half of the book the characters demonstrated growth and maturity. I like that they both acknowledged their mistakes and were not afraid to forgive thus opening their hearts for reconciliation.

It was easy to understand where Elise was coming from. I understood her fears and doubts when it came to making life changing choices. Her focus all along was on her career, but then Preston entered her life and through a wrench into her plans. She had no idea how to manage this change. Her actions are typical of persons who literally run scared when things don’t go the way they planned.

Proposing to Preston is a bittersweet second chance romance that depicts the importance of compromise, support and understanding within relationships. This is a must read and I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
