Bad boy Logan "High" Judd has seen his share of troubles with the law. Yet it was a beautiful woman who broke him. After ending a loveless marriage, High is shocked when his true love walks back into his life. Millie is still gorgeous, but she's just a ghost of her former self. High's intrigued at the change, but her betrayal cut him deep-and he doesn't want to get burned again. As High sinks into meting out vengeance for Millie's betrayal, he'll break all over again when he realizes just how Millie walked through fire for her man . . .

Need green tea bags stat....

I made it to the other side of Walk Through Fire (aka WTF) alive but a little battered. This story had my emotions on a rollercoaster. The devastation I was feeling towards characters that I had grown to love was starting to wear me down. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could take seeing someone attacked so viciously.

AND NO ONE HAD ALL THE FACTS!!

I didn’t have all the facts, Millie didn’t have all the facts, Logan didn’t have all the facts and the bloody, mean, douchwaffle Chaos didn’t have all the facts. I spent a lot of time reading the first half of this story with tears pouring out of my eyes. Fellow readers, do not be alarmed…I do this A LOT. I’ve been known to cry at reading about a stubbed toe, I’m a big sooky la la. My poor hubby walks into the bedroom to find me with tears pouring out of my eyes, gives me a pat, a kiss on the cheek and tells me I’ll be OK. I’m sure he walks out of the bedroom, to his man cave and cracks up laughing, but to me he is sweet.

Anyways…I can’t say I enjoyed the first half of the story, but it definitely set up the scene perfectly for the ultimate fix…and KA always fixes things. It took a little longer than my hormones liked and I swear I had red puffy eyes for the first 24 hours. Once the fixes started to fall into place and things were explained, it wasn’t all plain sailings. Bandaids needed to be applied, balms needed to be rubbed in and paracetamol needed to be given for the headaches. This was a 20 year misunderstanding, so a lot of people were touched in the fallout, some good and some bad.

I liked all the different components that made up this story. Chaos men are not soft and they sometimes say and do the wrong things. We know this, but WTF was a prime example of a bunch of blokes who stick the knife in without all the facts and are then all sucky, sucky up when they realise the monumental mistake they made. The Old Ladies and their affiliates are still causing trouble, but their hearts are in the right place. We have children involved and for once KA hasn’t given us little angels with words of wisdom way beyond their years…she gave us Princess Devil Child. This kid had me shaking my head, tsking and mumbling Mum talk - “if that was my child” and “that child needs a time out”, left, right and centre. Big Pete is still a sweetheart, Tack and Tyra still rule as King and Queen of Chaos, Elvira is still talking with attitude…and we still want one more glimpse of Hawk, Lee, Vance, Slim and Mitch.

Lots of sexy times that showed a great connection that had lasted through the years. The sweetness that High showed towards Millie, once he had her back, was on par to the beach scene in KA’s Lady Luck. Words that touched me deeply and made up for some of the heartbreak he had caused. Millie’s guilt was something else that needed to be overcome and High was always there to help her see that they had both made mistakes.

The Chaos series is not my favourite by Kristen Ashley, but it still holds goodness within. Own The Wind is my least favourite, and in WTF the same dumb duck, did another dumb duck move that had me gritting my teeth and shaking my head.

All good, left me on my usual KA high and gave me faith that 41 is not too old to be held up against a wall and…given the good ;)
