Web of Air by Philip Reeve

Web of Air (Fever Crumb, #2) (Mortal Engines Prequel)

by Philip Reeve

Two years ago, Fever Crumb escaped the war-torn city of London in a travelling theatre. Now she arrives in the extraordinary crater city of Mayda, where buildings ascend the cliffs on funicular rails, and a mysterious recluse is building a machine that can fly. Fever is the engineer he needs - but ruthless enemies will kill to possess their secrets. This is the fabulous sixth book in the "Mortal Engines" series, from the brilliant and award-winning Philip Reeve.

What an exciting sequel to Fever Crumb! I love the new characters introduced in this book, especially Arlo Thursday. I was not disappointed - Philip Reeve continues to prove that he is one of the best science fiction authors out there. His descriptions are so vivid, I can clearly imagine myself in Fever's time. "Ancient" tech that is common to me suddenly becomes something unfamiliar, like I am discovering them for the first time just like Fever. The plot sucked me right in and I was hooked until the very end. The end was bittersweet, and I am still craving for more Fever, Dr. Crumb, and Arlo. I want the next book now! I cannot wait.
