This book had a more unique premise and resolution than a lot of young adult books. The heroine was kind of pedestrian. She was obstinate and foolish and maybe that's what a teenage girl is, shortsighted and resistive. But being realistic isn't enough to compel me to like her. And it's hard to really enjoy a book when it's written in first person of someone I don't actively like.

Her boyfriends were also kind of bland. They were super handsome and great football players and not much else which isn't really enough. They were both so passive it was like they barely had personalities of their own. But I kind of feel it wasn't their fault because none of the characters, other than maybe Morgan, were especially well developed. Pip was the next closest and was sweet and actually had something of a good character transformation and got stronger.

But there was nothing in this book to inspire any strong emotion - it wasn't great and it wasn't horrible. I didn't hate any of the characters or the story but I didn't love them either. I liked that the heroine wasn't the super-powered, super-special one. It was a nice change in that way, which is something. But overall I was just unimpressed.
