Flirting With Fire was a first time read for this author duo and it will not be my last! It's always such a gem to find amazing author duos that you absolutely love. There was just so much to love, but the characters definitely took the cake. I can't say that the horrible high school experience and having it constantly on your mind 10ish years later, not really my favorite in a storyline, but I still enjoyed this one quite a bit.
With Mauro Bianco being the apple of Maddie's eye since she was a teenager, her being the nerdy wallflower and Mauro the complete opposite, there was no way that something would happen between them. In Maddie's mind at least. It's not until she attends a bonfire with her friends that she gets a night she wasn't expecting at all. For only the next day to have that amazing night completely ruined. Fast forward ten years later, Maddie and her friends all bid during the date auction, of course, picking the Bianco brothers and guess who Maddie's friends bid on for her date? The one and only, Mauro Bianco.
Their story had a lot of everything that I enjoy in a romance. I loved their inner dialogue especially when they were talking about each other. You definitely still see that teenage love that Maddie had for Mauro, and she wants nothing more than to get the date over with. Mauro, I'll admit was a bit of a jerk with his thoughts towards her and just getting all of his assumptions wrongs. Maddie had reservations and still clammed up around him, but once you mess with her once, she'll be more than happy to spit fire at you. And that's when Mauro starts to take notice, loving the fire behind the rather reserved Maddie.
What's a girl without her girl tribe and they were Lauren and Vanessa. Even when Maddie still deals with insecurities, they're always there to back her up and just support her, like good friends should. And the banter between those three are extremely entertaining, it's evident who will be next in this series, so I'm definitely looking forward to learning more about them. And the Bianco brothers, I loved how close they are with each other and their banter as well is just absolutely hilarious!
With the major project that they surprisingly teamed up on, it actually gave them the chance to really learn more about each other. And day after day, they quickly realized how right they are for each other. The chemistry is there and has been since the very beginning, but Maddie still has her reservations about Mauro. And to complicate it more there's something that keeps popping up that just annoyed the ever-living crap out of me. By the end, I was completely in love with the way everything was tied up.
Such a sweet and enjoyable read! And I can't wait to learn more about the Bianco brothers and the dates that still need to happen with them and Maddie's two best friends! Bravo, Piper and Rayne, you have gained a new fan!
