Rafe: A Buff Male Nanny introduces readers to Rafe and Sloan. Sloan is a successful surgeon and a single mother of six-year-old twin girls. At the beginning of the story, the nanny Sloane hired to take care of her girls walked off the job with no warning, leaving her in a bind. Enters Rafe, who came highly recommended as a Nanny.
Rafe’s career as a nanny began at age seventeen when he began taking care of his younger sisters. Since then he became a well sought after nanny. Now he is at the point where he wants to take his life in another direction. However, when he learnt of Sloane’s dilemma, he took the job but plans for it to be temporary. However, sometimes the best laid plans go awry.
Rafe fit in nicely with Sloan and her twins, enabling her to go to work knowing her girls were in good hands. He’s definitely great at his job and it also helped that he was an awesome cook. There was no denying the mutual attraction the MCs shared, which was obvious from their first interaction. I loved how upfront about how they felt about each other, although there was hesitancy on Sloan’s part. It came as no surprise, given her history with her ex-husband. Rafe’s patience and caring nature broke through her barriers and soon they were spending time together, which had nothing to do with his job.
I loved their romance, which was charming and passionate. The author chose not to emphasize class and race difference thus avoiding all the drama that comes with diverse relationships. Rafe’s relationship with the twins was the icing on the cake. Although they experienced some rough spots along the way, Rafe and Sloan were good for each other. This new-to-me author did a wonderful job with her characters, and I’m definitely willing to check out more stories in her catalog whenever time permits. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
