I started reading this book at a disadvantages because I hadn't read any of the other books in the Blood Seductions or Dream Seductions series. It definitely would have helped to understand who Gavin and his vampire company were opposed to the Succubus Sarah was friends with and lived amongst. It would also have helped to understand just who they were fighting and why. While the love story between Gavin and Sarah is specific to this story, the fight with Adam and the tenuous alliance between the vampires and the succubus was too interwoven throughout the story to not get some of that back story.
That said, Gavin and Sarah were a couple that I liked. Gavin struggled with what he felt for Sarah and his need to protect her from himself and the virus he carries. Gavin was cautious and took many precautions to ensure Sarah wouldn't become infected herself. Sarah was confident Gavin wouldn't harm her and it was that confidence in Gavin that allowed him to finally give in to what he felt for her.
Despite coming into this series in the middle of it, I did enjoy Gavin and Sarah's story and really want to know what happens now that Ian has left to find some werewolves. I'll be looking for the next story in the series.
