I received a copy of Small Hours through NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

If you’ve spent anytime browsing around online, then the odds are good that you’re going to recognize the name; Mrs. Frollein. Or, at the very least, recognize the artwork found within this book. Mrs. Frollein is a charming web series written and drawn by the lovely and talented Valerie Minelli.
Minelli has such a way about making her comics connect to a wide array of readers. And it’s all because of the heart she puts within her comics. Her characters are eclectic and anxiety riddled, but they’re also heartwarming and cheerful. They’re the perfect read for a rainy or sunny day. And more often than not, you’ll find that their actions mirror things you’ve done in your own life.
That’s the main reason I love Mrs. Frollein so much. The comics themselves are fairly cute as well, which is a major bonus. So naturally, when I saw that a series of the comics were going to get bundled up into one book (Small Hours) I found that I couldn’t resist giving it a read.
And I couldn’t be happier about that decision. Small Hours was every bit the delight I was hoping it would be. It was the perfect balance of down to earth and insane humor. The characters are quirky and silly at times. And at other times tackling the harder parts of living. It was emotional and so much fun to see all these comics together.
As if that wasn’t enough, Small Hours boasts one more special feature: twenty-five of the comic strips within these pages cannot be found online. They were made specifically for this book. So die-hard fans of the characters are going to want to check this one out!
