The Cane series has been one of my most anticipated series this year! And it's definitely become my favorite set of taboo books since I don't read them that often. Even though there's another book coming after this, I thought everything was tied up rather nicely by the end.

If you've been reading this series then you know how much of a killer that cliffhanger was in the last book! Thankfully Loving Mr. Cane picks up right from that point and I was just biting at the bit to know everything that happened following that little incident. I had a hunch about what Kandy was going to do even though it absolutely killed me because ... CANE! But of course, everything that followed needed to happen, with Kandy suffering such a traumatic ordeal that left not only physical scars but emotional ones as well. She had a tough journey ahead of her.

My goodness, the drama was really cranked up in this one! A new to me character pops up and kind of stirs the pot or maybe lights a fire under Cane's ass. It had me on the edge of my seat waiting for something huge to happen. I haven't read Shanora's previous series where El Jefe is featured, but as of right now, all my thoughts lead to not really liking the guy at all. But he makes it pretty clear in just his presence alone that he's not to be messed with, PERIOD.

I adored Candy in this one, she went through hell and fought her way back out of there. I loved that she put herself first and took a step back to really take everything in around her especially her relationship with Cane. I definitely understood her reasons, but I wasn't a huge fan of her doubts towards Cane. That man would go to the ends of the world to protect her and there's no if, ands/buts about it. But as we all know, Cane isn't perfect, he has a dark past that not many would be proud of, but I appreciated the fact that he was able to get himself out of a sticky situation. Sorta?! I think that man will always be tied to El Jefe and that is something I would never want lingering on my shoulders.

I might be the only one that thinks this, but this one didn't feel very taboo at all like it was in the previous books. Despite Kandy's parents still not liking the fact that she is with Cane, she was very firm on her decision to be with him because he ultimately made her happy. It was still tough to see the relationship between Kandy and her parents and it had me screaming, she's happy, let her be. But I know, easier said than done!

Shanora does it again, she had my hanging onto every word as I was making my way towards the end! I can't wait until 3.5 and see what's to come of Cane and Kandy!
