Barbie is a reporter in this series and in the midst of her assigned jobs, finds a mystery.

In this one, the town is getting ready for the upcoming 100th Founder Day Celebration and Barbie is reporting on the town's founder, Mr Fielding Willow. A botanist, Fielding experimented with plants and created the Fielding rose - the reason why the town in named after him. He died before he could share the secret formula so the wider mystery is where he hid his formula.

Honestly it sounds more complicated than it really is. It was a good idea, just not particularly well executed - it felt bland - but then it's a kids book and I'm really not the target audience. Anyway so Barbie goes to meet the grandson, Alfred and finds his house is being haunted and she investigates. If I was two decades younger, this would be my perfect reading material. But I'm past my use by date. It's a short sweet easy mystery for young readers. Highly recommended for young girls.

Similar style to the Babysitter's Club Mysteries. Or Emily Rodda's Teen Power Inc. My rating 2 stars. Target audience 4 stars.
