Out of Turn by Tiffany Snow

Out of Turn (Kathleen Turner, #4)

by Tiffany Snow

Breaking up is hard to do, as Kathleen Turner discovers. After a falling-out with her ex, high-powered attorney Blane Kirk, she’s moving on the best she can. Unfortunately, someone from her past is set on revenge and nothing short of killing Kathleen will stop them.

Keeping his brother’s ex-girlfriend alive isn’t something new to assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon, but this time can he protect her from himself? She’s a woman he can’t convince himself to walk away from, no matter what it costs him.

Regret is a constant companion for Blane as he realizes the truth behind the lies he’s been told. Can love heal the past, or can some mistakes not be undone?

Murder reunites Blane, Kade, and Kathleen as the police put Blane in their crosshairs. Blane may lose everything unless he and Kade can find the real murderer before it’s too late. But if they can’t set aside their love for the same woman and work together, it will tear them apart.

In Out of Turn, Kathleen is caught between two warring brothers, and the consequences may be fatal.

I'm not sure I can write a review that will do this book justice. It's that awesome. It's an edge of your seat, keep you up all night, page turner. In my opinion, this is the best of the series and some of Tiffany Snow's best writing work. She's taken angst and emotional turmoil to a new level with this entry into the series. And let's not forget some of the best one-liners coming out of Kade's mouth.

Out of Turn picks up a few weeks after Blane and Kathleen's break up. Kathleen isn't dealing with it very well. She's drinking, sometimes heavily, to numb her emotions instead of falling apart for the pain she still feels over what was said and done. But Kathleen discovers she has bigger problems on her hands: mainly James Gage wants her dead because of her role in sending him to prison. And when Kathleen's in trouble that can only mean one thing...Blane and Kade to the rescue, even if she doesn't think she needs it.

There is a very interesting dynamic between Kathleen, Blane and Kade. She might be pissed at one (or at times both of them), Blane and Kade could be pissed at each other or Kathleen, but they always have each others backs. And when you see this dynamic at work, you have to wonder just how Kathleen is going to be able to deal with her feelings for both of them. Out of Turn focuses quite a bit on Kathleen and Kade's relationship, so we get to see just what Kathleen feels for Kade. But at the same time, she can't deny what she feels for Blane. No matter how much the hurt over what happened between them overshadows her love, she does still love him. Is she in love with Blane? Is she in love with Kade? That's the million dollar question and I don't envy Kathleen and the decision she has to make.

If you haven't picked up this series, it's one that I highly recommend. It's addictive. For me, I'll be seeking therapy as I wait for the final book, POINT OF NO RETURN, to come out in May.
