So this is my third one of these today, and again, it was just OK. I'll be straight up honest and admit this had a few things against it even before I started reading it. One, I am not a fan of friends to lovers books. Add in the fact that this guy kissed (at least once) and was hung up on this heroines best friend AND the heroine was a musician, and I knew unless it was amazing I was going to struggle with it. Not to mention the connection to the M&M series was tenuous at best. I thought all these spin-off books were about the bodyguards from the M&M series? But Cooper runs a ranch and just hires a bodyguard from M&M to protect the heroine...sigh. I don't know, maybe I have this whole crossover thing confused, or perhaps I was expecting something else. *shrug*

So yea, this one was OK. I probably would have liked it more had I read some other books by this author that featured these characters. But then again, probably not since I got the feeling that Cooper was all hung up on Grace (Emily's BFF) in that series...not a scenario I am fond of, and it was brought up ad nauseum in this book. The writing was good though. It was super fast paced. The plot had a bit of mystery that was interesting. The characters were reasonably likable. The sex scenes were suitably hot. There was a bit of angst and no OW or OM drama. Last, it was all wrapped up in what felt like a series ending epilogue, but who knows.
