Tempt The Boss was very entertaining and the kind of contemporary romance I find easy to sink into. An unhappy intro to the characters...because what's the point of a romance story if the hero and heroine are blissfully happy without each other? Blistering chemistry that jumped off the pages and made me squirm. Romantic gestures that made me sigh and remember the good-old-days of courtship. Saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, seeing the repercussions and what needs to be said or happen to make things right again. A laugh out loud scene or two to brighten my day. And...the pièce de résistance...when they give in to their sexual frustrations and it's HOT!!
I'm one of those horrible people who nervously laugh at others misfortunes and accidents. I don't mean to, I feel bloody guilty when it happens but it just slips out. So, while I was laughing my head off at Austin's misfortunes at the hands of Lauren's pranks, I was completely horrified also. The poor bloke copped it big time. To be honest, I thought it was OTT and if it happened in real life, he probably had every right to report her to the police. But, in Romancelandia we laugh.
Austin is married to his work, he has never planned on finding his one because he doesn't want a woman to hate his dedication to his job. Lauren has two children, is recently divorced and returning to the workforce after ten years at home with the kids. They are an unlikely couple at first, but as time goes on, the sexual attraction turns into something more.
It's a funny thing to pick apart a story that I finished with a big goofy grin on my face. Yes, there were things that annoyed me and made me shake my head but I still really enjoyed the journey. I enjoyed it so much I was desperate to find more books by Natasha Madison. So, while I really enjoyed the story overall, I took off one star for all the *shake my heads*. While I really loved Lauren and Austin's love story, I loved the additional characters as well. Lauren's kids are sweethearts, Austin's mates are funny and Lauren's sister is a crack up.
In the end, Tempt The Boss wasn't perfect, but it was perfect for me today. I've already downloaded the audio's (Audible Escape) for Tempt the Playboy and Something So Right. After meeting those characters, I need to know them better.
