DNF.

Of the Renegades series, I was lukewarm about the first book but really enjoyed the second. The third was recommended to me so I continued onto the next book.

I started the third book and I had a few issues with the storyline, such as Ryker not telling Rachel that he was the one she was supposed to be picking up at the airport so that she would agree to anonymous no-name sex with him, and Rachel obviously being beautiful with the way the men were acting around her, but acting like she was an unattractive slug because she compares herself to Ruby and Lexi, who are both over the top gorgeous.

What made me put the book down is when everyone is at a pool party at Jax's house. Ryker is trying to make nice with Rachel who is pissed off at finding out who he is. There is a man invited to the party from the insurance company. His job it is to determine if the company can do the crucial stunt that the movie needs, you know, the one that will make or break Jax's company. First of all, this seems a conflict of interest that the company would frown upon if their employee is getting "friendly" with people whose work can cost the insurance company a fortune.

The biggest problem is that he has been trying to get Rachel to to out with him and Rachel has stated she doesn't want to date right now. He sees Ryker hanging a little too close to Rachel and suddenly he is hugging her and kissing her hello after she had a frank talk with him awhile back that she was not comfortable with that between them. So he is all but peeing on Rachel in the "I was here first" when Rachel wasn't kissing Ryker, they were just standing too close. Rachel was pissed off at Ryker so this guy's reaction is simply about Ryker's attention to Rachel.

The storyline was then becoming Rachel was going to be the onsite coordinator for the stunt, with Ryker doing the explosives, and now Insurance Man was insisting he had to come on set and supervise (Rachel and Ryker obviously).

It started giving me a creepy vibe of "Is this guy going to insist Rachel date (read: have sex with) him in order to give the approval on the stunt. And if he doesn't, Jax would lose his company." I don't remember him having a twirly villian mustache.

He was presented as young and attractive (not a middle-aged, balding man older than her father), But I couldn't imagine where else this was going to go except this man trying to force Rachel into being with him. Sounds very art imitating life with what's going on lately.

I was too bothered by where I felt we might be going with this storyline to continue.
