Bet on Me was cute, but was missing that extra something that made the first book so special. This time we're following Ellie's roommate slash best friend, Britte, and her brother, Beckett. Britte and Beckett had a heavy makeout session, but then she just upped and left him. Beckett can't get Britte out of his head and knows she must be the one, but Britte has a very specific list of qualities that she's looking for to fit her perfect life plan, and Beckett does not qualify. So why can't she stop thinking about him either?

I liked Bet on Me. I'm a sucker for Romances where the guy is the one who is pining away, as Beckett is doing here. He's trying to get his life on track and decide what direction he wants to go in, but Britte is the one thing that he's 100% sure of. Meanwhile, Britte is struggling a bit with midterms and the fact that her mother has just reappeared after thirteen years. She cannot get distracted, especially by a boy! I did get a bit annoyed with Britte at times for her back and forth about Beckett. I totally get wanting to remain focused and not being sure about a relationship, but don't blame him for why you failed your exams, particularly when you already admitted to being bad at testing. No extra, unneeded drama, please!

In the end, Bet on Me was a quick, enjoyable read. I liked catching up with Ellie and Finn, who are more sickeningly sweet together than ever. I also liked Britte and Beckett, even though I wished there had been more development in their relationship. Things seemed to suddenly speed up once Britte decided to go for it. The ending was rushed, so I would have liked more of them figuring things out together and starting their official relationship. It also would have been nice to see that first meeting between Britte and her mom after all of this time instead of just the aftermath.
