Double Crossed by Ally Carter

Double Crossed (Gallagher Girls, #5.5) (Heist Society, #2.5)

by Ally Carter

Macey McHenry—Glamorous society girl or spy-in-training?

W.W. Hale V—Heir to an American dynasty or master thief?

There are two sides to every coin. Whether these two can work together is a tossup.

Born into privilege, Macey and Hale are experts at mingling with the upper class. But even if they’ve never raised an eyebrow at the glitz, neither teenager has ever felt at home with the glamour. When Macey and Hale meet at a society gala, the party takes a dangerous turn. Suddenly they’re at the center of a hostage situation, and it’s up to them to stop the thugs from becoming hostile. Will Macey’s spy skills and Hale’s con-man ways be enough to outsmart a ruthless gang? Or will they have to seek out the ultimate inside girl to help?

The worlds of Heist Society and the Gallagher Girls collide in Ally Carter’s fast-paced, high-stakes and tantalizing new novella. Get a behind the scenes glimpse as Ally delivers an irresistible thriller that is full of her signature style and savvy twists.

I would say that DOUBLE CROSSED made me want to read PERFECT SCOUNDRELS and the rest of the YA books Ally Carter wrote. But that would be lying. I already read all of Ally Carter’s published YA books. However, it did excite me even more for PERFECT SCOUNDRELS, aka Heist Society #3. I was already hyped up about it just by reading the synopsis. And then there’s GGB6 that’s supposed to come out sometime this year. But enough about PERFECT SCOUNDRELS and GG6, I’m here to talk about DOUBLE CROSSED.

DOUBLE CROSSED was just fabulous, absolutely fabulous. So fabulous, I am so shocked by how great it was, I’m speechless. I think DOUBLE CROSSED would greatly satisfy fans of the Gallagher Girls and those of Heist Society, not to mention the fans of both... It might even feed their hunger for more Ally Carter books. I know it fed mine...just read the above paragraph. DOUBLE CROSSED features some epic butt kicking (courtesy of Macey), pick-pocketing (courtesy of Hale), and some jewel stealing (courtesy of Kat). It also features some flirting and super cute romance (there was a lot of “awww” moments, courtesy of.... if you want to find out READ IT! ( P.S. Someone also makes an appearance...someone else from Gallagher Academy...!)

My only problem with DOUBLE CROSSED was that it was way too short. I think it should be expanded into a full novel where all characters are featured, not just a select few. At the end, I was left thinking “That’s IT ?!?! WHAT THE HECK!” But I did end up rereading it so many times that both my iPod and Nook died.

A perfect blend of the Gallagher Girls and Heist Society, DOUBLE CROSSED is an irresistible read for fans waiting for PERFECT SCOUNDRELS and GG6.

P.S.S. DOUBLE CROSSED takes place after GG5 (OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF TIME) and before Heist #3 (PERFECT SCOUNDRELS)

I would recommend this book to fans of Ally Carter's YA books (Gallagher Girls & Heist Society)
