Resist by K. Bromberg

Resist (Wicked Ways, #1)

by K. Bromberg

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Driven series comes a powerful romance about reaching great heights through low depths.

Who says you have to play by the rules to get what you want?

Agreeing to meet Ryker Lockhart is my first mistake. Rich, handsome, and more than intriguing, he thinks blackmail will bend me to his will.

But he’s wrong.

I may have done a few things that weren’t exactly legal, but I have my own reasons for that. The last thing I’m going to do is let some high-powered divorce attorney come into my life, have my body, and rule my heart. Not to mention ruin everything that I have carefully built in just a short amount of time.

But as much as I try to resist him, and against my better judgment, there is something about him that has me agreeing to his proposal.

I’m putting everything on the line for him. I just hope I won’t lose everything when this is all over.

Resist by K Bromberg was utterly unexpected! I went into this one blind-I hadn't read the synopsis or anything when I snagged the book because its K Bromberg! Vaughn is a strange type of heroine. In one instance she is an alpha female who kneels to no one and rules an empire with an iron fist. Then, in the next, she is a grieving sister who is trying to cut the read tape keeping her from her niece. As a heroine, I found her wholly fascinating.

Ryker is a study in contradictions as well. He is an ice cold attorney who never loses and yet he is a man who, despite his stunning good looks, hires an escort. He is the prime example of an alpha-hole. Rude, demeaning, and demanding, he isn't afraid to cross lines to get what he wants. I can't say I LOVED either of these characters the way I fall in love with some book leads. However, my feelings for them where what made this book so unique and unforgettable in my mind. I struggled with their choices and decisions, even knowing the why behind them.

Resist by K Bromberg hooked me instantly when I wasn't expecting it and I simply couldn't stop reading. I had to know what would become of Vaughn and Ryker and all those around them. There is no shortage of villainous characters and slimy behavior that will make you feel uncomfortable-but in the best possible way.  Also, a delightful cameo by Colton Donovan had me squealing with delight. If dynamic characters are what you seek in your steamy romance reads, Resist will entrance you because Ryker and Vaughn have so many layers and such depth to them.
