The premise for this story seemed pretty straight forward girl who does not know she has power comes into them after the sudden loss of her parents.  This is not a new plot it been done several times.  The difference between the basic story line and what this story has is layers.  Each chapter we are peeling back the complexity of the story. 

I did feel that that book was heavy handed with the relationship parings so for me that paranormal romance aspect for me was over done.  I wanted more action and less explaining of things in long speeches between the action parts of the story. 

The story fell in the middle of my range of ratings with a solid 3.5 due to over abundance of information and romance that kept getting slipped in.  It an ambitious debut novel an will appeal greatly to those who love the paranormal romances.
