Sukeban Turbo is a new series from IDW. It’s based in Brooklyn (I know, I was surprised too – I never would have guessed it from the cover of this issue) and is inspired by Japanese girl gangs in the 1970s. I’m not going to lie, I hadn’t realized that was a thing, so I looked it up. Obviously I can’t speak to much to the accuracy of this series, or how much they based off of it. But it was still an interesting read. The issue was a lot of buildup. They spent time establishing the characters, the setting, and a few of the problems that are going to come up in the near future. The next issue should be free to run off of all of that, so that is where things could get pretty crazy (in a good way, of course).
