It Happened One Bite is super cute! Twenty years ago, a coven of witches cast a spell on vampire James. They were aiming to protect his future victims from this monster, but once all of them were gone, the spell broke. Now James is awake and has no clue where or when he is, until he meets the owners of the castle he’s been imprisoned in. Blaire’s brother has inherited the castle from their late mother. It’s rumored to be haunted, but Blaire doesn’t believe James is a ghost, but she can’t figure out what he is.

I love the combination of Historical and Paranormal Romance. I find it so much fun, and It Happened One Bite is no exception. Blaire is a witch, and a descendent of one of the witches who trapped James, but I absolutely adored that he didn’t hold that against her. In fact, James and Blaire are very level headed and don’t make huge fusses out of the things that they learn about each other. It would have been easy to create unnecessary drama this way, but I’m so glad that the authors didn’t go that route. There was plenty going on without our lovers fighting over silly misunderstandings!

The plot of It Happened One Bite was pretty typical: good vampire must protect their love from evil vampires. James has to protect Blaire when other vampires from his past show up and take an interest in her and her family. Obviously this protection leads to some biting and sexy times! I will admit that I didn’t care for the scenes involving Sarah because she was the cliche evil, jealous vampire. But the ending certainly didn’t go how I was expecting at all! There are a couple of great twists!

It Happened One Bite was super fun to read. I loved James and Blaire was quite the badass witch. There were a couple of moments in the middle where it lost my attention, but by the end I was into again and couldn’t wait for the happy ending!
