Absolutely LOVED listening to my favourite romance...

I have read, watched and now listened to this masterpiece and it NEVER gets old. Rosamund Pike does an amazing job and every moment of listening was a real treat. While her voice is very easy to listen to, her characterisation was spot on.

Colin Firth will always be my Mr Darcy, so of course, the BBC version is my absolute favourite and I've watched it numerous times. I love seeing the proud and arrogant Darcy turn into the smiling, polite and thoughtful Darcy at Pemberley...also the wet shirt scene. While I have watched the Keira Knightley version a few times, it just doesn't come up to scratch for me. Funny, they will always be the BBC or the Keira Knightley.

This will probably seem strange because I found it so, but Rosamund Pike plays Jane Bennett in the Keira Knightley BUT her voices for all the characters sounded a lot more like the BBC version. I was convinced I was listening to Jane and Elizabeth from the BBC version, Darcy wasn't far off and Mr Bennett even seemed similar. HOW FUNNY IS THAT?

My favourite, Favourite, FAVOURITE part was the...

“You are too generous to trifle with me. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged; but one word from you will silence me on this subject for ever.”

― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

That part always makes my heart beat faster. I even rewound and played it a couple of times, just for the pleasure of hearing Mr Darcy say those words again and again...sigh.

I have been hoping that Rosamund Pike's narration of Pride and Prejudice would be added to the Audible Escape package, and when it did, it was an automatic download. After listening, it will definitely be on my regular re-read/listen to list.

Loved this experience and I can't wait to listen again soon.
