To begin, the bad guys are completely relatable. Even though Sable did have a bit of a psycho side, both him and Hess had a reason why they did things.
Perry's struggle to handle the Tides and his divcoverings about leadership were so realistic I found myself worrying over his issues too.
Aria was a very likeable character. She had her strenghts and her flaws. Suffered enough to say she went through a lot, without seeming like a martyr, since everyone else went through a lot.
In general, very fullfilling books that left me thoroughly satisfied.
