I have a 10-year-old daughter, and while I knew that the sexual landscape had changed since I was a teen, I honestly had no idea how drastic that change was. When I read what is considered "second base", I about had a heart-attack. I persevered, however, and have to say that this book is an excellent resource for parents of girls AND boys - since true change cannot happen without the participation of both. I look forward to discussing some of these things with my daughter, even as some of them make me tremble with apprehension. But as a mother who wants her child to know that sex isn't just for having children, and that it can truly be a wonderful thing, they are conversations I would rather have with her instead of inaccuracies presented by friends, the internet, or even (sadly) school "sex ed" programs.
