Don't give me half a book and expect me to be happy with it. This started out well and I was liking and enjoying the characters, but by the time I got midway through it was starting to get old. I kept with it because the writing was decent and the story wasn't bad but mostly because I figured I'd be much happier with the read once the major tension in the story was resolved.

Then the author pulls the cliffhanger. Doesn't even give us a happy resolution to the tale we are in, but makes it so we have to go buy another book just to get the bad taste of this ending out of our mouths.

Here is a hint to any hopeful authors out there. Leave me wanting to buy your next book because I've enjoyed this one so much, not having to buy the next one if I want a complete story.

Maybe it was the author's choice, or maybe it was the publisher's...I'll never know, but I can tell you it won't matter to me because I won't go looking for the next book. I will admit that this ploy is one of my major pet peeves as a reader.
