No Place Like Oz by Danielle Paige

No Place Like Oz (Dorothy Must Die, #0.1) (Dorothy Must Die Novella, #1)

by Danielle Paige

In this digital original novella, Dorothy travels back to Oz to reunite with old friends, but her story may not have a happy ending. No Place Like Oz is a prequel to the forthcoming novel Dorothy Must Die.

After returning to Kansas, Dorothy Gale has realized that the dreary fields of Kansas don’t compare to the vibrant landscapes of Oz. And although she’s happy to be reunited with Aunt Em, she misses her friends from the yellow brick road. But most of all, Dorothy misses the fame and the adventure. In Kansas she’s just another prairie girl, but in Oz she was a hero. So Dorothy is willing to do anything to get back, because there really is no place like Oz. But returning to the land she left comes at a price, and after Dorothy is through with it, Oz will never be the same.

Perfect for fans of Alex Flinn, Marissa Meyer, and Gregory Maguire, No Place Like Oz is a dark reimagining of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Building off of its rich mythology, Danielle Paige creates an edgy, thrilling story for teens that chronicles the rise and fall of one of the literature’s most beloved characters. This digital original novella is a prequel that sets the stage for the forthcoming novel Dorothy Must Die.

What could have happened to Dorothy to make someone want her to die?

I couldn't wait for this prequel to come out when I heard about the book over the summer and saw the prequel was going to be released sooner I was SO EXCITED. It did not disappoint, I could not put this book down. (I love when that happens)

I have only read one book about Wizard of Oz and that was more what happened before Dorothy. This was what happened 2 years after she left Oz but it's not the sweet Dorothy you remember something isn't right.

Dorothy has a grand return when she came back from Oz, the town thought it was miracle she survived the twister but Aunt Em and Uncle Henry didn't want her sharing what they say was a dream with anyone else. As the hoopla of her return starts to wind down Dorothy realizes as much as she missed Kansas she really misses Oz. Kansas is boring, dull and she has no friends, not like the friends she had in Oz. So on her 16th birthday she makes a wish and that's when it all starts to take a turn for the worst.

WOW this was amazing. I loved seeing Dorothy and how she was after leaving Oz. At first I really felt bad for her, my heart broke that she wasn't able to tell anyone about her trip to Oz and how she lost her only friend. I got over that really quick once she started turning into a MAJOR bitch. The world was great and it has the same feel as the original Oz it really was like stepping back into a world we all know and love. It gave me quite the shock at the end it took me a day to recover and I'm not sure I am over it.

This is yet another Novella that was packed with so much it was like reading a full length novel and it has such great detail and world build I can't wait to read Dorothy Must Die.

I gave No Place Like Oz by Danielle Paige 5/5 stars it was a great telling of Oz and the outcome at the end only make me eager to read more. Danielle Paige is a fantastic author she was able to create such an amazing story that is so interesting and original it makes me wish it were release day for Dorothy Must Die already. (April 2014)
