A wintry adventure

Far from the relaxing vacation at Yellowstone she was expecting, Faith found herself the target of a masked man. Was it somehow related to Monica's disappearance? Was it someone trying to hurt the business of the tour company? Or, was it actually a jealous female, hating that Jake was showing her interest? Gayla K. Hiss did a great job in keeping the motive behind the attacks as hidden as the person behind them. I was kept guessing. When I thought I knew the answer, there was reason to question it yet again.

While Jake had been hurt when Faith broke off their engagement years earlier and then surprised and a little dismayed to find her on the tour he was leading, his response was mature and even kind. Well, after he stopped ignoring her, that is. It was not an "insta-forgiveness"; he had to choose to forgive and treat her with kindness. This did make it more realistic to me.

While I was bursting with curiosity and just wanted Faith to tell Jake why she deserted him right away, I could see why she would have wanted to avoid doing that. Not a fan of confrontation myself, I loved that Jake was able to forgive without knowing why she had made the choice she did.

The descriptions of Yellowstone made me want to hop on a plane and go visit immediately. It even made me want to do cross-country skiing! At least in theory. :-)
