I'm a big fan of books where the characters shift into other creatures, so I was super excited to read, The Shifted. Right off I really liked main character Kale. I liked his personality and his voice. He is a very well written character. You are in his corner from the first few pages.Kale seems to be the oddball in his family, in that he can't shift like everyone else can. Kale finds himself taking care of his younger brother,Scout, who is being sent to a school for his kind, shapeshifters. This brings all sorts of trouble for Kale.

The romance between Kale and Kit was nice and believable. Even after Kale tells Kit his huge secret, she still loves him. As the story unfolded, and more clues were dropped about Kale's "possible" background, the story heated up. As the truth about Kale comes out, even more very likable characters come into play. This story is interesting, original, and fun.

This first volume ends very well, but leaves everything open for a second book. I truly hope that a second book will be out soon. This is a series that I love, and will be supporting author Natalie Carlisle in promoting. This book is suitable for tweens, teens, and adults, and will be enjoyed by all audiences. I highly recommend it!
