You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister

You Slay Me ("Aisling Grey, Guardian, Novel", #1)

by Katie MacAlister

Aisling Grey is a courier enjoying a free, work-related trip to Paris when she learns she's a Guardian. That's a keeper of the Gates of Hell, for those who don't know. She finds this out from Drake Vireo, who's scrumptiously sexy-at least in his human form. Now Drake has stolen the package Aisling was sent to deliver, and she must track him down, get the package, and try to resist the passion boiling inside her.

Aisling Grey is clueless. But she doesn’t let it stop her from diving head first into a world she had only partially studied but did not believe in. With a cast out demon named Jim–in dog form, no less–as her sidekick, she sets out to solve some murders, and most importantly, get her package back. Despite the fact there were murders to solve, this book felt light-hearted, probably because of how Aisling bumbled through it all and the humor. She constantly gets in over her head, trusts the wrong people, but manages to come through in the end. All the bumbling and humor remind me of Stephanie Plum, and I love Stephanie Plum.

It was hard to put this book down. I needed to be entertained, and entertained I was. It was not gripping, but it was a lot of fun, and as soon as I finish this review, I’m reading the next book.
