Drape Expectations by Karen Rose Smith

Drape Expectations (A Caprice De Luca Mystery, #4)

by Karen Rose Smith

These days, home stager Caprice De Luca’s calendar is a full house. Her grandmother’s health is failing, her wayward uncle is stirring the pot, and she’s torn between two equally eligible suitors. With so much drama in her personal life, Caprice is grateful to have Ace Richland, a former 80s rock star, ask her to stage his girlfriend’s house. But Alanna Goodwin is a tough customer who balks at Caprice’s ideas and all but commandeers the staging. Caprice almost isn’t surprised when the snappish Southern belle is strangled to death with a tieback from her tacky velvet drapes. But just as she draws back the curtains on the truth, Caprice realizes she may be next on a murderer’s set list…

The main character was great! Caprice is an animal lover and I could totally relate to that, she also loves vintage clothes and loves to ask questions. The character in the book that ends up murdered has a lot of enemies and some secrets as well, the author threw out some red herrings which could really take the reader in another direction altogether in regards as to who the murderer is. There was a love triangle going on with Caprice, Seth and Grant and I have to say my favorite guy won in the end. I liked the small town setting of the book and the fact that Caprice is a house stager. I also enjoyed the little side story about Caprice’s family and I hope that they appear in the next book as well. This is actually the first book that I have read in this series and I am happy that there are other books as well in this series. There was a twist at the end of the book that I really did not see coming although ….. I had an idea that the book might go in that direction but I was not completely sure. I look forward to more books from this author and can’t wait to read the next book in this series. This review was originally posted on
