Verity Long is out of work, out of money and down on her luck, in order to save her grandmother's house, her roof over her head, she needs money and fast. With the town turned against her for leaving their local golden boy/hero at the altar Verity has no options until she starts seeing ghosts.

Verity, while cleaning out her grandmother's belongings, comes across a vase that turns out to be the remains of a 1920's gangster, now the gangster is trapped on her property and is adamant that he is innocent in a decades-old murder. Between this gangster,  Ellis Wydell her fiance's brother, who hires Verity to rid his beautiful historic property that is haunted by some of Sugarland Tennessee’s finest dead citizens, Verity has her hands full.

What follows is a delightful cozy mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed full of ghosts, Verity's pet skunk, mayhem, and a side of romance. I loved Verity's spunk, her supernatural sidekick a 1920's gangster, Frankie, and of course Lucy the pet skunk.

I definitely want to continue reading this series.
