Cocaine Blues

Phryne Fisher (the Honourable!) is tiring of London and decides to try her way as a detective in Melbourne Australia. She ends up investigating a poisoned wife, cocaine, smuggling and a lot of interesting things and period events.

The author has evidently done her research. The characters come across as quite real. It's like inter-war fiction without some of the glossing over the underbelly you see in a lot of the period fiction.
