"Talk Wicked to Me" tells the story of Baz Wicked, a Dark Knights Bayside chapter member and veterinarian, and Emerson Lockhart, an editor who's eight months pregnant and new resident of Bayside. Emerson's move was all about starting fresh and finding a secure environment to raise her baby. What she didn't anticipate was the dashing veterinarian Baz, who would unexpectedly come to her aid, delivering her baby by the roadside.
Fans of the series are no strangers to Baz, having met him in earlier installments. "Talk Wicked to Me" delves into the backstory of this beloved veterinarian and Dark Knights member, shedding light on his life with the detail fans crave.
Baz is currently uninterested in pursuing a relationship. His dedication to his veterinary practice and his role as a Dark Knight consume all his time. Moreover, he's planning to travel to Indonesia to join a veterinary program akin to Doctors Without Borders, leaving no room for serious romantic commitments. However, Emerson Lockhart enters the scene, a woman who might just make him reconsider his priorities.
Emerson never planned on having a baby. However, she finds herself eight months pregnant and moving to a town filled with strangers. She's resolved to be independent and keep her distance from others. Having experienced devastating loss in the past she has no intention of getting close to anyone. However, Baz and the rest of the Wickeds wouldn't allow her to go it alone. Although she didn't make it easy for them.
The first encounter between Baz and Emerson is the kind that leaves readers grinning widely. From the get-go, they were utterly captivated by one another. The bond between them deepened profoundly when Baz assisted in the birth of Emerson's baby. It was heartwarming to witness the Wickeds welcome Emerson with open arms. Baz commitment to Emerson from the start endeared him to the reader, and as a pair, they were simply perfect. Their love story is so touching it could melt even the iciest heart.
Foster masterfully captures the nuances of grief. She crafted with skill and sensitivity the scenes detailing Emerson's path to self-forgiveness and her release from the pain of loss.
"Talk Wicked to Me" is a wonderful addition to the "Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside" series. Fans of small-town romance featuring single mothers and found families will delight in this new release from Melissa Foster. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
