First I want to thank NetGalley and Harlequin Teen for letting me read this!

If you have not read the Iron Fey series, I highly suggest you do before going onto this book. This is a spin-off series, but it definitely holds its own!

This is set years after Iron Queen, and the main character is Ethan (Meghan’s younger brother), and he’s all grown up and in high school now. Over the years of being able to see the Fey and being subject to their torment, he has developed a kind of attitude. This is to keep others away from him so they don’t get hurt. His last school’s library was even set on fire because of the Fey and he got blamed for it of course.

He has his own issues these days. Since he’s pretty much grown up without his sister, and blames her for leaving their family and especially wanting nothing to do with him. People in his past have gotten hurt because of his vision for the Fey, and he is constantly reminding himself of this, and not to let it happen anyone else. He doesn’t technically even have any friends.

He starts out at a new school and a girl called Kenzie keeps bugging him for an interview (she’s on the school newspaper), even though he acts like a total jerk to her and everyone else. He even comes across a half-breed of the fey too, Todd, which leads him to find out about these new creatures since they are following this guy. They are so transparent that they almost look like ghosts, and it’s nothing Ethan has ever seen before. When trying to get away from them, he happens to take himself and Kenzie into the Nevernever.

They of course are then taken along on an epic journey to figure things out. What those Fey want, who they are a danger to, and getting home safely without getting anyone hurt. One of the best parts is seeing Ash, Megan and Puck again! They are only in it briefly, but it was awesome to see how they were doing.

Fans of the Fey written by Julie will love this book, it makes me want to go and re-read all of the other ones again just to live in that magical world once more. I can’t wait to see where the rest of this new series goes, it’s definitely a great faerie book for those needing a fix!

Recommended for young adult fans of Faeries!
