Being an early riser, I often have extra time in the morning before I need to start getting ready for work. And normally, I do a great job keeping track of the time. It helps that my Kindle displays the time at the top of every page! Reading like this has never been a problem.
This morning I was up early again so I settled into my cozy recliner and started to read Home for Christmas. I was caught up in the story, loving the characters and the plot. All of a sudden, I looked at the time and gasped! I had completely lost track of time and had read for an hour longer than I had planned!
Gracie and Tyler both have identical twins, and both struggled with maintaining their own identity. Tyler became a bit of a prodigal in his attempt to be seen for himself.
I loved Gracie's dad and the quiet wisdom he imparted. His love for music and making instruments was eclipsed by his love for God. He had a gift for encouragement and exhortation and shared scriptural truths in a gentle and loving manner.
This story was lovely. I loved seeing Gracie learn to accept the gift that God had given her and be willing to step out of her comfort zone so she could use it for His glory. And especially loved seeing Tyler turn to God after being broken and becoming a new man in Christ.
If you enjoy stories of prodigals coming home and second chances, this is a great one to read.
As a disclaimer, this is the fifth story in the Wardrobe series. If you plan to read just this book, it does stand alone; however, if you want to read the entire series (you won't regret it!), be sure to read them in order to avoid spoilers.
