I loved this book from the first one the uniqueness of magic being infused into foods is a very nice concept that stands out from other magic filled books. Wren is my favorite character, and i love the way this book builds on the previous book and introduces new twists and turns to the plot, and among the relationships in the book .

I do like that in this one we get a switch between hale and wrens point of view and if you read the novella that dedicated to hale backstory this really makes you invested in hearing his side of this story. As you reach the middle of this story the action really starts to heat up as the city in under siege. I really like how the characters are pushed to what seems impossible choices and other characters make choices you never expect to see them make. The confectioners coup is a powerful follow up to book one that you will want to sink your teeth into. I am eager to see how things play out in book 3.
