A Silken Thread

by Brenda Jackson

For Erica Sanders, finding a soul mate was the easy part. Brian Lawson is the man she wants, and everyone agrees they're the ideal couple. Almost everyone. The exception is Erica's mother, Karen, who prefers her daughter marry another man. Karen even hires a private detective to investigate Brian, but what he uncovers is the last thing she expected - a devastating betrayal that rips both families apart. As secrets old and new are revealed, Erica and Brian find themselves caught between the bonds of the past and an uncertain future.

WOW! This was quite a story. I just could not but this book down. Brenda Jackson has shown why she is worthy to be on the bestselling author’s list. Silken Thread is a story of love, deceit, loss and jealousy. It shows the lengths one would go through just have their own way even if it means destroying other people’s lives to achieve it.
In writing this book, Mrs. Jackson has moved away from her usual writing style which I thought was rather refreshing.
The characters were well developed. I loved how she incorporated the relationship between not one but the other two couples in the story. I absolutely detested Erica's mother. Can one person be so totally evil, especially to their own flesh and blood? There were some unexpected surprises which really bowled me over when it came out.
Overall this was a great read.
