Falling in love with The Sexy One

What if I told you I found a hero that’s the whole package? Good looks and muscles (please note the book cover…or, like in my case, note again and again and again), smart and ambitious, sweet, thoughtful, an awesome Dad to his daughter…AND learns from his mistakes. Yes peoples, by the end of the book he got his priorities straight and put love first. Now, don’t go freaking and calling me bad names because I spoiled the surprise, I was actually talking about his daughter. His love, love life is yours for the taking. I would never, ever imply that a love story could possibly finish on a high with an HEA. Never, I tell you.

I could really finish the review here, to be honest. I found the other characters great and thought that Abby was perfect for Simon and Hayden, the sweetest little girl ever. But really, Simon is the star of the show. Well, in my eyes he was.

I found this story somewhat refreshing. Simon is a thirty-something guy, divorced and has primary custody of his 5-year-old daughter, Hayden. His life revolves around his little girl's happiness. Yes, his work does take up a lot of his time, but he manages to still make Hayden his priority. To do this effectively, he hires a nanny for the times he really has to go to business meetings. Through a mutual friend, Harper, he manages to get an awesome nanny in Abby. Even though Abby is awesome, there is one slight problem. Simon is completely in lust with his nanny. A wee bit cliché, unfortunately.

Abby is the nanny and she absolutely LOVES her job. It helps that Hayden is a sweetheart and her boss is a good man…who has the body of Chris Hemsworth. Now, Abby kind of has a crush on her boss. It’s totally understandable considering his looks and personality, but she LOVES her job and doesn’t want to jeopardise it. She pushes back her feelings because she doesn’t want to be a wee bit of a cliché.

As times goes on their feelings grow for each other. It’s not just lust anymore, now they have to deal with FEELINGS too. They like each other. Their personalities seem to suit and they never struggle with finding something to talk about. How long can they keep fighting their attraction?

The Sexy One was a great story. It’s a little bit of a slow burn but the tension starts from the very beginning. Simon and Abby are not silly people…well not normally. Abby does have one brain malfunction but luckily, Lauren Blakely again proved why I like her stories so much. The silly situation is dealt with, with maturity, truth and no unnecessary drama. Bravo!!

Did I mention that Simon also speaks my favourite language - Dirty Talk. It is not crass or OTT but it did make me sit up and take notice.

Talking of languages…I am very jealous of Abby’s characters ability to learn languages so easily. I speak English and I can count to ten in Japanese. WOW!! I think my kids know more than I do. What a shame out?

Anyways…I really did enjoy The Sexy One. Simon and Abby’s love story gave me happy buzzes and big goofy smiles.

At the end of the book, we get a glimpse into what’s coming our way and I can definitely say that I squealed just a wee bit. Hot Doc’s, Hot Chef’s and THE HOT ONE who’s determined to win back his ex even if he has to fight for her. BRING IT ON!!
