The Broken Queen by Sherry D. Ficklin

The Broken Queen (Stolen Empire, #6)

by Sherry D. Ficklin

Long before Catherine was great, Elizabeth was destined to rule the Romanov empire…

The last true Romanov, Elizabeth has once again been denied the throne of Russia. Grieving and isolated, she struggles to protect the few loved ones she has left. But when Empress Anna’s health begins to fail, Elisabeth’s very existence becomes a threat to Anna’s plans to place her chosen heir, the infant Ivan, on the throne.

Knowing only one of them will survive, Elizabeth enters into a dangerous alliance with Anna’s former lover in the hopes of not only returning the crown to its rightful line, but also rescuing her nearly bankrupt nation from the hands of an enemy king determined to bring the country under his rule.

Desperate and willing to sacrifice anything—and anyone—to her gambit, Elizabeth must make her final choice between the destiny that was promised to her and the one man she might truly love.

The Broken Queen is a scandalous glimpse into the life of one of the most vibrant women in history.

This is the final tribute to the “last of the Romanovs”. Anna as a Queen is truly terrifying and it is painted in perfect gruesome detail in this novel. This story being the last in this series really brought out all the feels, my heart hurt for Sergei as Elizabeth once again has to crush his heart into a million pieces and i was truly hoping for a happy ending for them. The amount of emotion that pours from the pages about a Queen that truly has been put through the wringer really gets to you as read this final novel. This is a must read series if your a fan of historical fiction.
