The thing I loved most about this book was at the beginning of the book "the character" explains how to pronounce her name.
"What sort of name is 'Iz-luh'?"
Isla attempted counting to ten, but reached only to five.
"It is pronounced 'Eye-luh'"
His expression cleared. "Oh, yes, rather like 'island,' then."
Honestly, I was so glad to read this from the start so I could say her name correctly in my mind from the beginning of the story. It's little things that bother me if half way through I found out it was pronounced differently. Don't laugh, I read a lot and it's funny what could trigger me NOT liking a book.
I've read many other books by this author and she's a great writer. Nancy Campbell Allen has written books in many genres and she does a nice job every time.
This book starts out pretty slow, but picks up half way through. I only wish that the action found in the last 1/4 of the book had been in more of the rest of the book. The great thing is the chemistry between both main characters Isla and Daniel. I really liked the slow build up and the incredible kisses between them. This book is full of interesting characters, magic, and of course a swoon worthy, clean romance.
Even though I didn't like Kiss of the Spindle as much as I did Beauty and the Clockwork Beast, this is still a great addition to the Steampunk Proper Romance line up.
