Every now and then, I take a chance on books that are generally big NOs for me to read. I've been meaning to read an Emma Scott for a very long time, I even own a few of her books. But I found myself getting sucked into the vortex of my ever growing TBR list and finally getting to that point kept slipping further and further away. I read this book over a few days and I knew that it would keep me on edge the entire time. I had to take breaks from reading, but I was so nervous to see about what would happen next between these three characters, Weston, Connor, and Autumn.
Emma Scott gave us all the warnings, a love triangle story that's not like any other and that's completely true. I'm even finding it difficult, to sum up the words to describe it all. I was pulled in so many directions emotionally about whether it was right or wrong, I couldn't make up my mind on how to feel about EVERYTHING. Not only do we have the bond between essentially two brothers, each needing one another in their lives forever. And then we have the relationship between Autumn and Connor & Autumn and Weston. It easily becomes a tangled web, but you can't help but feel for every one of these characters. It's nearly impossible to not love Connor and Weston. I loved Weston and his utmost devotion and loyalty to his best friend, Connor. He's completely selfless, but it was easy for him to get lost in all of that and revealing too much. Connor... and how my heart broke for him, just wanting the approval from the ones that mattered most to him. Trying to live up to certain expectations, pulling Weston and Autumn into his life because they bring so much good to his life. But lies start stacking up, you'll start questioning his true intentions.
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around Autumn, believe it or not, she wasn't exactly my favorite. There were several times where I questioned her ability to not realize certain things especially when it came to Connor and Weston. How?! I definitely found myself connected more with Connor and Weston than Autumn. Even when the truth comes out, their bond is still something that is unbelievably unbreakable.
I personally know a lot of people that wouldn't read this because of the love triangle aspect, but I recommend for anyone that's willing to take a chance on a book; this would be the one. Bring Down the Stars definitely won't be my last Emma Scott book and I need the conclusion to this duet. It invoked so many emotions out of me, the good, the bad, and the downright heartbreaking. Emma Scott truly has the gift of storytelling, keeping all of her readers completely captivated by this story. She has written a love triangle that's absolutely unique and you'll be rooting for each character's happiness. I think that's a first time I'm able to say that about a love triangle story.
I was rooting for each character, but for all very different reasons. I'm sure I'm confusing, but it's one of those things you have to read to understand where I'm coming from.
I truly want every romance lover to read this, but I also want them to go in blind and just chance it. I feel like that's the best way to get the full effect of this emotional story. I know this book has certain elements we don't love to read about but trust me, it's worth it.
