Mr. Perfect didn't really work for me... I felt like it took far too long for the characters to let loose and help me get to know them.


I never thought I'd have as much trouble with a Huss story as I had with Mr. Perfect to be frank. I had such trouble getting into the story, and I found it very difficult to get to know and connect with the main characters. I am not a huge fan of office romances, and this story started out not exactly like an office romance, but rather like an office sexcapade, where Mac held all the power, and Ellie just ended up letting him have his way. That was both a bit uncomfortable and slightly unbelievable. Because Ellie seemed like a strong woman who knew what she wanted in life, and Mac just wasn't that.

It took a long time for me to warm up to the characters, and by then, I wasn't invested in them enough to want what was best for them anymore. This is definitely a case of "it's me, not you", though, because Huss' writing is amazing, and the way she is able to have a story unfold so that many things are still hidden is nothing short of amazing. I'm just such a sucker for characters and character development, and I was left wanting more of that from earlier on.

If you're a fan of very steamy office romances, where the characters just can't get enough of each other, and where there is a lot of inappropriate stuff going on behind more or less closed doors, you'll probably fall completely in love with Mr. Perfect! There is mystery in Mac's past, and when Ellie finally uncovers that, she's devastated and wonders what she should do next. There are lots of humorous text-messages and hidden pinterest boards that made me laugh out loud, as well.

Written in dual points of views, with chapters from both Ellie's and Mac's perspectives, I did get some insight to them, but they were a bit guarded even within their own chapters - especially Mac didn't let anything slip until everything came out in the open without any help from him. The present tense also works to keep that mysterious past at bay, as well as Ellie's plans for the future. There are some well-rounded secondary characters here, and I know I'm going to continue with the Mister series, because it's just impossible for me to resist a Huss novel!



I do like his bossiness. Which walks that fine line just between rude and fuck-hot. It's definitely a contributor.

Gross. I'd rather be in the greasy airplane hangar than up there on the seventh floor with the executives.
