Sam Hopkins is not a bad kid but on a training run that he hopes will start to get him into good enough shape to join his school's award winning track team, he has a dangerous run in with a gang of thieves. He starts to hang out with them and they start to teach him how to pick locks, break into cars and steal them. A chance meeting with the strange, younger sister of the school's track team star, makes Sam take a stand against the thugs that have befriended him. He now has a new friend, not just strange but downright weird. Jennifer has strange dreams and hallucinations that seem to prophecy some terrible things happening. No one believes them and in a race against time, Sam must make some dangerous decisions to find the truth, as crazy as that truth seems to be.

This book is a fast and entertaining read and is geared towards the young teen reader. The plot moves fast and the climax at the end reaches a satisfying conclusion. The supernatural elements add strength to the story but it's the truth of who the "demons" are that turns out to be shocking.
