Giving it 1 star here to show I read the book, but it really gets 0 from me.

It's one thing to suffer from Stockholm syndrome, it's completely another to romanticize abduction, rape, and abuse. Also, Nora is so fucking STUPID in the fact that she not only lies to herself saying that he doesn't harm her in the same sentence where she says he hurts her, but she also lies to the FBI saying he never hurt her, or was never cruel. I kept reading because I hoped she'd come to her senses. But by the time it was over, I kind of wish she had thought of drowning as an escape plan toward the start of her captivity. At least it would have gotten her away from him. And I hated Beth all the way through. I never felt any pity for her or Julian like Nora does—another thing about her that pissed me off so much. There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women, and Beth belongs there.
