In my quest to read all of my Christmas short story e-books, I’m swallowing them quicker than I swallow the newest episode of The Big Bang Theory. I’ve read Katie Fforde’s, Eleanor Moran’s and now, I’ve read Abby Clements’ festive offering, and it’s the best yet! I haven’t (yet) read Abby’s debut novel Meet Me Under The Mistletoe, but if The Christmas Bake-Off is anything to go by, I will be reading it sharpish.

The Christmas Bake-Off is by far one of the best short stories I’ve ever read. I loved the idea of the bake-off, I loved that we followed a few different characters – Katie, owner of the bakery in Skipley; Rachel, a stay-at-home mum who wants to prove she’s more than that; Bea, Rachel’s mother-in-law who loves her faithful recipes; and John, who owns the hardware shop and may have more than one reason to enter the bake-off.

I loved the Christmassy feel, I loved the fact cakes were involved – I adore anything to do with cakes, I loved the hint of romance to the novel, and the writing was excellent. Abby Clements is a massively talented writer, and I could tell that just from a free e-book! She’s very, very talented, and it has made me very eager to read Meet Me Under The Mistletoe. You can’t really go wrong with The Christmas Bake-Off, I has all the essential ingredients you need and want from a short story, and best of all, it’s free. I loved it, and you will too!
