This is, apparently, the second in a series - the first describes exactly how Clay ends up on the island. I did not know this until the end, however, so it's safe to say this can be read independently outside of the series and still enjoyed.
And enjoy it I did. The kids are fun, the dragon is - well - cool!, and the story moves along at a fairly quick pace. No dull moments here, but it's not rushed, either. My 9-year-old would probably enjoy this book, and I think boys in particular would get a kick out of it.
Overall, it was fun to read and would make a great read-aloud in a classroom. Definitely a recommended read for grades 3-6.
